Thank you to every donor and grantor that helps us fulfill our mission. Your collective support enables us to help all children in our community. Because we believe they deserve the opportunity to learn in a way that meets their needs and enables them to succeed, regardless of their family income level, we provide our tutoring services free of charge. Ours is the only program in the community that does this.

The founder of the centers, J. Philip Berquist, was married to a lovely lady, Nancy, whose hobby was collecting bears. In that the centers were to help children, they felt the teddy bear would make a perfect logo. Nancy donated many of her bears to the first center. The late Charles Freeman drew the logo, and it has remained the same to this day.
Each student gets to select their own bear from a collection of donated bears kept at each center. That special bear stays at the center and sits with the student as they are tutored for one, two or even three years. Then when our student's graduate they take their bears home with them.
